Luck

HY unexpectedly received an award for major improvement in his studies. Only 3 in his class receive such award, which is a great honor. Many who has accomplished much more yet never have the honor to receive such award throughout their studies. It reminds me of a quote from a movie. We don’t care if one is to be great. Whats more important is that one has to be lucky.

Blue Belt

Look! Someone is granted Blue Belt at the age of 7. That’s amazing. Blue belt for Taekwondo is level 4 (White-Yellow-Green-Blue), equivalent to Judo Green (White-Yellow-Orange-Green). Fact that I only able to reach Green belt when I stopped in Form 1, HY has done a marvelous job. Obviously I started at the age of 8 and took me 5 years to hit Level 4 and HY started at age of 5 and took 3 years to hit Level 4. Not bad. Not bad at all. Will he be persistent enough to go for Black? That’s would be something.

Lai Meng Run

We completed our first family run Lai Meng 2km. HY complete at ease. HX surprises me with her ability to complete and run most part of the races. She is lightning quick in between the crowd. Look! HY made it to the first row of the line up before start of the race.

Wawasan 2018

We submit Wawasan hill for the first time this year. This time we notice someone has put the height of the hill and a Malaysian flag for photo session purpose which is cool. What is cooler is that we made it to the top and return in just 1 hour. Significantly faster than previous attempt. Perhaps we are ready for a more difficult track in Wawasan hill and perhaps to Broga Hill sometime this year if not next.

Camera Skill Part 2

Push! Push harder! Hong Yi, you are not pushing hard enough!

Help me grab that bottle of wine please. Looks good!

Camera Skill Part 1

The skill is shooting a shot with multiple people (including kids) jumping in the air is not easy. It requires patient, team effort and definitely the skills of the cameraman, which in this case is myself.

Wow! Look at the height!

The search for long lost memorise

I once tasted a medium range Pinot Noir from Adelaide Hills. It was intense, it was balanced, it has length, it has flavored, it has great memories that i long for another experience.

7 years have past. I can recall the sensation but could not relive again. Is it me or is it the fact that i could Not find the Exact same wine? Even wines 3 times its value could not give the same feeling.

The trip to Adelaide Hills thus far have yet to resolve this agony. I will continue the search till the end of days.

Wines and love. The same.

P.S. Shaw and Smith 2009 Pinot Noir (A$60) is really good. Not quite relive my memories but does create a new impression.

Last Day

Count down to the final moment. Never imagine I will do the same despite witnessing others having the same experience. Many rebound strongly in their new adventure. Although my next journey may not be what I anticipate, I figure it couldn’t be any worse than the situation I had been in the past three years.

Anyhow the list will continue to grow and very soon i will be one of them.

General Election 14

GE14 is around the corner. It’s time to make a forecast now and will revisit when results are out. My forecast (although not what I hope for) is BN 122, PH 85 and PAS 15. BN majority will reduce (and lost 4 states along the way) but main opposition force will also reduce.

Sinking Ship

If you are on a sinking ship, will you seek to get aboard another ship or be the last to leave? And if you are the last to leave, does that make you a good leader? And if it does make you a good leader, does it make you a good person in a sense that are you being responsible to your family and yourself? One thing that we can be sure of is that you are being responsible to the ship. However, if you are not the owner of the ship, will you still be the last to leave? And will it end well? Meantime, in many occasions when the ship is going down, the owner is the first to dispose the ship (whilst there is still value to it). Does that make him a bad leader? Perhaps so, but he sure is a good businessman.

Passat 50k

Here goes 50,000km. It was like the car is shouting at me to snap a photo as it hit 50,000km, although I was driving 70km/hour. We somehow communicate! It just four months ago when it hit 40,000km. No doubt extremely high usage. How much time did I actually spent driving every week I wonder.

Coffee Expert Wannabe

Attended a coffee making seminar (with HY) as we strive to be Coffee Expert (wannabe). We definitely acquire some basic knowledge and improving coffee making skills. Nonetheless, no matter how hard I tried, coffee still smell better in solid state, prior to liquid form.

Std Chart Marathon 2018

This year’s Standard Chartered Marathon is earlier than previous year. Though I am not as prepared as prior year with much lesser practices, I am advantages amid lighter body weight. I started the race sprinting (in the first 3km) but really slow down in the balance 7km, although I didn’t stop running in most part of the race (with the exception of 1 short up hill session and drinking station). I finish the race 1 hour 6 mins 21 seconds, which is 8 minutes faster than last year and last 4 attempts since 2013. Ranking is 240 vs 398 the year earlier. Result is satisfying although not sure if I can keep this result (as well as body weight) in future race.

The God Parade

The God Parade at Johor is a very meaningful event that is full of culture, religious and although it is extremely crowded and tiring, it is still worth participating this once a life time experience. Seeing it in videos and photos just doesn’t give you the thrill.
